Extremely rare miniature fold-out of Swiss women’s costumes, circa 1820. A precious and delicate testimony of identity, distributed at the time of the creation of the Confederation of the XXII cantons.

 

Petits Souvenirs de la Suisse. No place, no date [ca. 1820]. Series of 22 miniature watercolour vignettes (2 x 1,6 cm), unnumbered, mounted on brown laporello paper (16 x 26 mm, 370 mm unfolded), in an ornate contemporary red morocco folder and green morocco slipcase with gilt title, decorated with gilt scrolls on the back.
