Very interesting manuscript relating to Geneva. General idea of the Republic, its coat of arms, its history, its bishops, vidames, syndics, councilors, lieutenants, auditors, secretaries of justice, treasurers general, procurators general, châtelains de Peney et de Jussy, judges, pastors and professors since 1536 (theology, oriental languages, law, philosophy, belles-lettres, etc. ), the various privileges and roles of the King, the exercise of the harquebus and navigation, distance of the four draws of the exercise, enumeration of the mandements of the Republic, appointments of all the companies, places of arms of those who are in the vicinity of the City, evolution of the price of wheat and sale of wine from 1536 to 1770, annual statement of income and expenditure from industry (excluding watchmaking, which alone brings in almost a million pounds a year), toll tariffs for foodstuffs with their consumption and differences in selling prices between 1536 and 1768, the roll of Genevans killed at Châtelaine in 1590 by the Duke of Savoy’s people (154 listed alphabetically) and at the Escalade in 1602 (17), and how many Genevans (17) took the Versoy fort [in 1589]. Blank spaces have been left at the end of many chapters, leaving the reader free to complete them in subsequent years.
