Jeanne Moreau

Le Prince de Hombourg, production of the T.N.P.. by Jean Vilar, who had just been appointed, was performed at Chaillot in May 1952; premiered at the Avignon Festival last year with Jeanne Moreau (Nathalie), Gérard Philipe (prince Frederick Arthur of Homburg), Jean Negroni (Earl of Hohenzollern) and Jean Vilar himself (Frédéric Guillaume), Kleist’s play is thus replayed in Paris, before being the following summer, in the courtyard of the Popes’ Palace, in Avignon, du 15 to 25 July 1952, in the same casting. Leon Gischia’s costumes were directed by Alyette Samazeuilh and Henri Lebrun. The annotations specify the colors (“white col […] turquoise blue scarf, taupe skirt, […] red belt, 3 silver stripes […] black dress, white hairstyle“, etc.). These represent the costumes of Gérard Philipe (5), Jeanne Moreau (6), Jean Vilar (7), Jean Négroni as well as some supporting roles or extras (guard, drummer). Very nice condition.
