Zoomorphic illustration project, pretty accomplished, in the style of Scènes de la vie privée et publique des animaux, to our knowledge not retained and unpublished.
Some pencil sketches are still visible, on the wall on the left and at the level of the houses on the right. A few small, non-serious spots due to the acidity of the brown support.
Scene where our charming young lady, in the guise of a little cat, dressed with elegant simplicity, probably the daughter of the wealthy landowner whose house is behind the wall of the farm, seduces our hunter, poor turkey, followed by its dogs, wearing skin gloves, gaiters, beautiful rifle and splendid hunting bag. Note that our seducer is wearing a peasant headdress in “bavolet”, and her victim, subjugated, a cap and blouse that would rather be reminiscent of a gamekeeper. We can think of one of the Scènes de la vie de campagne by Balzac, ; Granville was particularly appreciative of the author, who he illustrated in particular in the Scènes de la vie privée et publique des animaux, representing cats in the short story « Peines de cœur d’une chatte anglaise ».
The beauty swoons, and the hunter is really the “dindon de la farce”.
