Ten woodcuts were used to illustrate René Boylesve’s latest erotic masterpiece, La Leçon d’amour dans un parc (5 woodcuts); and its continuation, Les Nouvelles Leçons d’amour dans un parc (5 woodcuts), published in 1939–1941 in Paris by Briffault. We are unable to indentify the remaining 7 woodcuts. The two volumes, a numbered edition, are included.
Sylvain Sauvage, whose real name was Félix Roy, was born in Baume-les-Messieurs, in the Jura, in 1888 and died in Paris in 1948. He was an illustrator and book designer. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs and was awarded a Silver Medal in 1930. He was director of the École Estienne (École du Livre). He successfully illustrated numerous works.
